Undertaking a voyage of self discovery is both an easy and arduous task. It is easy for those that do not employ will, effort and determination. It is arduous for those who are seeking a preconceived goal and result. The journey cannot be separated from the destination. As one keeps treading the path, the destination gets more clarity, until the heavens open the door, to put it metaphorically.

The death of my father in November 2014 was a big blow to me. I have seen many deaths before that which included my grandmother, my aunt, a couple of schoolmates, and of course a few famous personalities who are well known in the public space.
ReplyDeleteBut it was my father's demise that shook me. Although by physical age, he was approaching 90 years, my father was quite a healthy, active person. But sometime in September of 2014 he suddenly fell very ill. he was getting frequent chest pain and a month later in October, one day he had very high fever. Through medicines and diet, he was able to only partially recover. A little after midnight of 28th October my father was wanting to use the bathroom and he got up from bed. As he got up he had a stroke (as per the doctor's report) and he fell on the floor with the head hitting the handle of the wardrobe. He was bleeding and he was rushed to the hospital. My father was in coma for 23 days and he died on 19th November 2014.
Even as I write this post. I am unable to hold back my tears that are welling up in my eyes and I can feel my heart becoming heavy and panting. The father who I adored all my life, who gave me all the love and affection, who helped me coast through life' trials and tribulations, suddenly disappeared from my life and from the face of this earth. There was only ashes left after his mortal remains were consigned to flames. The ashes were also scattered into the sea.
There is not a trace that is left of my father, not even a single particle of his physical entity that I can touch and feel. I can think about him, dream about him, see his photo, but I cannot touch his hand, his head and caress them.
He is gone never to come back. I cannot ever see him again in my life.
This experience of losing my father who meant a lot to me, has shaken me up.
Hence the eagerness to be undertaking this voyage of self discovery.
My father's mortal remains disintegrated and and has mixed with the earth, water, fire and ether.
Millions have died over thousands of years and there physical remains have mixed with the elements and these then become the ground on which new life is born. Since my father's remains were burnt, the flame as smoke has wafted in the air and therefore in a microscopic form is circulating around in the atmosphere.
This is how I console myself that I can feel his presence, even if I cannot see him in his full form and touch him and caress his chin.
Friends, why have we come into this world ? How did life originate ? Who created all life ? What is the purpose of my entering into the world ? Can it be limited to the pettiness of going to school, getting degrees, earning an income, marrying, producing children, have recreation ? Is there something immense beyond all the petty mundane activities ?
Is there a reason for me to come into this world ? Is there merit in undertaking a journey of self discovery ? How can one rise above the pettiness of jealousy, greed, comparison, selfishness ?
What about that perfume of love that pervades in the universe and how does one capture that ? How can one completely gives up all the petty mindedness forever and gets imbibed, marinated, float in the sea of love ?
Love burns everything that is false. So love is also right perception that denies the false.
Then what is left is truth which is beauty in its pristine, unsullied form, which can be called love. And this love cannot be restrained. It will meander it's way through, it can even flow with tremendous speed and volume. This love then is the slice of universal love.
The life of such an entity is an expression of bliss in its highest form.
As on a dark night one sees a rope as a snake, so because of ignorance, does one see the absolute existence as this manifold universe. But as when the light comes, the snake vanishes, so when the light of knowledge dawns, the manifold universe vanishes and there remains the Sachidananda-Absolute existence, absolute knowledge, and absolute bliss.........from Srimad Bhagavadam sent by one Mr.Jayendran on whatsapp.
ReplyDeleteThe absolute as a the name denotes is therefore not the relative, not the opposite, not the comparitive. The absolute is the ultimate. When the self is completely absent, the particular intelligence allows itself to be in sync, in harmony with the cosmic intelligence. This db harmony works magic, the beginning of a dimension beyond description through words, a state that's even beyond bliss.
DeleteWhen you have that perfume of love, then do what you will, it is love. Love is the unstoppable force that can move mountains. Love can obliterate and burn everything that's false. Beauty is truth and truth is beauty, and love is very personification of that ethereal beauty and truth. That love, that beauty, that truth cannot be bottled in anything that has a centre and a boundary. To do that is to corrupt it. Love is the bliss of freedom, the breeze of bliss. Allow it to waft, wade and pervade. Then life takes a turn towards the eternal.
ReplyDeleteIf you need knowledge...
ReplyDeleteKeep adding something new to your mind every day...
But...
If you need wisdom and self discovery....
Keep deleting a few things from your mind every day........sent by Varun Sood on whatsapp
That is why it is said that through negation one comes to the positive. The negation would be the wiping away of all unnecessary psychopogical baggage making the mind clear and thus being able to observe with clarity. The clarity could be a stepping stone to the path to the doors of freedom and bliss which inturn sow the seed of love.
ReplyDeleteTravelling together on the road to self discovery. It's both a pleasure and treasure. All co-passengers, please feel free to offload any burden you may have, feel light and let's all walk hand in hand, caring for each other , being affectionate and partake in each others feelings. Let's move ahead from the intellect of the particular mind to dipping into the universality of the cosmic intelligence where the operative words are " HARMONY OF LOVE AND REASON " or in other words "UNIVERSAL LOVE".
ReplyDeleteI like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen. We must look for ways to be an active force in our own lives. We must take charge of our own destinies, design a life of substance and truly begin to live our dreams.

ReplyDeleteWhat does it mean to undertake a journey of self discovery ? Should one do it only if there is a benefit and should one do something only for a benefit ? It is like someone asking the question - "Why should I be a good person ?". The person asks this question because he/she feels that it is pointless to be a good person in this world and that there are no benefits. In fact, one feels that there are disadvantages. If one is a good person, one thinks that it is difficult to manoeuvre through the life as life throws a many many challenges everyday. Life is seen as a series of problems that have to resolved and indeed that is how life in present times is. So it seems to require that the person should be smart, manipulative, competitive, ambitious so that he/she can appropriately meet the challenges and overcome them.
ReplyDeleteOne faces problems from the time one is born until one dies. From the time one wakes up in the morning and until going to bed, there seems to be problem after problem that need to be tackled.
External, materialistic life has become complicated and complex indeed. Western civilization started encroaching the relatively slower eastern world and today, it has more or less invaded, swept and obliterated the eastern way of living. Indians, Chinese, etc. were philosophically inclined, they spent quiet moments in solitude and many even wandered away into the mountains and forests and became untraceable. They were all grappled with this question - Who am I ? How can I discover myself ?
There were serious philosophers and spiritual seekers in Greek civilization. But one can't deny that the western world was much more materialistic, focused on the outer material world. This approach gradually spread through the east and the eastern way of living which was calmer, quieter, peaceful became threatened.
Now the western world may be taking to yoga and meditation, but that seems more a fad, a fancy started by Hollywood celebrities which is then imitated by the average folks. As everything else has, so too has the actual practice of yoga and meditation got corrupted down the ages. It's become fashionable to say I do yoga or I meditate. As more and more take to this fad, one sees only more and more violence, hatred, brutality and jealousy. Yoga as it is practiced today does not seem to help in internal transformation. No one is able to stand the sight of another. We all seem to be at each other's throat all the time. Beyond the plastic smile and a put on pleasantness, one actually is boiling with jealousy, hatred which are triggered by this quality or tendency to constantly compare oneself with another. From childhood we are comparing - at home, in school, in office, in society. And because of this there is no end to an acquisitive tendency and therefore the unavoidable need to strive, struggle, work hard just to consume more and more, to accumulate more and more.
Society encourages competition, ambition, consumerism. Material success is glorified. You are a nobody if you don't have a swanky car, a hefty bank balance, a pretty wife, kids going to elite schools, a powerful position in the office, a status in society. If you to choose to be an ordinary, average Joe, then your presence is even ignored. People become so indifferent and the sheer indifference and disdain shown hurts a person deeply.
So when the above scenario is the nature of the present day society, it may be worthwhile, for a start to examine the case of attempting the activity of self discovery, which is essentially the peeling off of the several layers of false notions, ideas, concepts and images we have enclosed ourselves with.........so much for now folks can keep adding to it.
[10:18, 18/01/2017] Raghavendra Ranjolkar: The withering away of the darkness and the rising of the sun signifies the most important aspect of life – despair giving way
ReplyDelete[10:23, 18/01/2017] Raghavendra Ranjolkar: To be a surrealist means barring your mind from all remembrance of what you have seen, and being on the lookout for what has never been.
Just to stretch that a bit, I think there should not also be a look out, which means searching, expecting, anticipating an outcome for your lookout. There must be no separation as the observer and the observed. There must be only observation. And we must be careful with remembrance. Practical remembrance should be there. If I forget my way back home, then I will be lost. But psychological remembrance should be wiped out. If you have insulted me or I have insulted you, then both of us must forget the insult. If we carry the insult then it will affect our relationship. Forgetting insults is easy to say but difficult to do. When all psycholgical remembrance is wiped out, the brain becomes fresh, healthy, spontaneous and innocent. A naturally curious and an innocent mind can help discover oneself with great clarity and come upon the truth.
ReplyDeleteDoing something for benefit is how the business world works. In the business world only money talks. Profit, finance, revenues, dividends, market share – these are the operative words and the lingo of the corporate world.
ReplyDeleteHuman beings carry the same approach into the personal life, family life and in the world of relationships. Between siblings, between parents & children, among cousins & relatives, amidst friends, it has become very self centred.
Society revolves around an “I, me, myself” mentality.
What is wrong in living that way ? Nothing wrong, except that humanbeings are destroying the social fabric, slowly but surely. What suffers is relationship. It is when relationship becomes meaningless that the human being realizes that life has lost it charm, beauty and spontaneity.
To fill this utter sense of hopelessness, despair and the void or vacuum, people fill it up doing all kinds of things – television ,football, movies, whisky, etc.
But this may be the golden opportunity to also look inward. Not the looking which has in it a sense of desire, anticipation, expectation of an outcome but a state where is just observation without wanting a result.
Such a mind is a meditative mind. The real meaning of meditation is contemplation, observation, cogitation, rumination, all done with a heightened sense of awareness without a tinge of desire in it.
It’s a tragedy that meditation is made out to be a repetition of a mantra, a concentration on some symbol or a dot on a wall, thought control, etc. This is only partially beneficial but does not really transform one’s inner being, simply because this type of meditation is done with a benefit expectation.
So much for now.
Human beings have invented religions and religions inturn are shaping the minds of human beings. First they say, it doesn’t matter which religion you belong to since all religions lead to One God. Then they also say that religions also preach similar precepts and principles with some variations based on cultural differences. It seems to be fine up to this point. Gita, Bible and Koran are perceived as holy texts and according to the religious background you are born and bred, you can follow a particular religion. By diligently practicing all that’s laid out in the holy texts, you can get elevated and it does not really matter whether you go along the Hindu path or the Christian path or the Islam way.
ReplyDeleteThis is what is propagated, may be in good intention. But is this what is practiced ? Very doubtful. Each generation adds its own peculiar flavours to its own religion. Rituals get adapted to the times as it needs to suit the convenience of folks in today’s busy world. It is okay to skip or modify a particular step of the ritualistic process.
The theists swear by the existence of God as Krishna, Jesus, Allah, etc. The atheists rubbish all this and say its all hogwash. The agnostic says, look it doesn’t matter to me if there is or there is no god. I am indifferent to either and I will keep chugging along the humdrum of living.
And along with all these isms is the most dangerous ism – fundamentalism and fanaticism. In the name of religion, in the name of God, in the name of ideology, people have and are being tortured and killed. Different religions are at war with each other either covertly or overtly.
If a God does indeed exist, surely, he wouldn’t want this to be the outcome. The core purpose of religions is universal peace, brotherhood and love and this is exactly what is being deprived to all us.
The actual meaning of being religious or having a religious bent of mind means to be able to gather all energy in oneself instead of wasting it in fruitless pursuits like hatred, jealousy, brutality, violence, etc. Such energy that gets gathered is used to heighten one’s awareness inorder to be observant of what is going on within oneself and outside. The very observation, if there is no motive or a preconceived result or outcome attached to it, can help in transformation of one’s consciousness. Psychological transformation attained through acute observation and attention (but both done with ease, not with effort and concentration ) sows the seed for love, sensitivity and care for another being. And action of such a person has a different quality and will positively impact those around him to the path of goodness.
So much for now.
Sometimes the mind gets amazing clarity. This comes uninvited, without a plan, without effort. That moment when the mind has this clarity is really a great feeling. It is as though you know everything before and after, as if the whole truth has got revealed. The contributory factors for this could be a certain type of food taken or a certain type of food not taken, the mind not being occupied with any immediate tasks and the environment around one which could be less noisy and more calm.
ReplyDeleteThis could be why people look for solitude if they want to solve problems that are difficult to solve in a typical "noisy" environment. So these moments of solitude are really welcome. The mind becomes much more calmer, quiet and blissful.
Opportunities to be a away from the din and noise of TV, trafffic, etc. and being able to be alone for a while gives some healing and freshness to the mind.
They say God has no beginning and no end. God is that which is eternal, omnipresent and omnipotent. Everything that is part of god should also god.The universe, the galaxies, the stars, planets, trees, mountains, oceans, living beings are all god naturally. So why should all this happen. If we say it happens for a reason, then why should it happen for any reason ? why should there be all these sufferings, problems, difficulties, effort and strife ? If god created all this, then who created god ? One can keep tracing back but with no full stop. Which means creation had no beginning and therefore no end. What has a beginning will only have an end.Matter is neither created nor destroyed. It only changes from one form to another or one state to another.Living beings are reduced to powder and ashes and the same become the source for creating new life.It is really very very puzzling. Even if we say that some realized person has fathomed the depths of creation and god, then how would such a person describe it, put it into words ? How will he make people understand ? If it is not explained and understood, then people naturally question such a realization. So we are back in the game.On who knows all can't explain and one who doesn't know can't understand. One way to question this riddle, is to say that there is nothing to understand at all and even of there is, there is no point in breaking one's head. If creation has no beginning and no end, then how can one even fathom it ? But this has been man's longing for centuries - to know what this is all about, this chaos and this puzzle called creation, life, universe and god. Some would say, you just leave it aside and it will reveal itself to the lucky one.But what will reveal itself ? What secret will be told to the lucky one ? If all are part of that Supreme One, then everyone and everything is lucky or not lucky. One seems to be going round and round in circles. But one also is having the urge to get a handle of this, come to grips with it, grasp it and understand it. It is indeed terribly confusing.
ReplyDeleteWhy should all this happen at all ? This means all this is happening without a cause. It has no beginning and so no ending. It is happening without a cause. So there is no point breaking one's head. All questions and all answers can be subject to further questions. Because there is nothing to validate against. There is no benchmark, no prior validated standpoint on which to build on. Everything is conjecture.Facts were previously opinion and became facts through the constant assertion of one, few or many. There is no basis for any reasoning that can be valid about the cause for all events - whether it is the creation of god, universe, or galaxies or even the creation of a tsunami. Why should all this happen in the first place ? Who asked for all this ? In this perplexing frame of reference or context what is the place of mankind ? Physically mankind is a speck amidst the everlasting eternity. Is the connect between mankind and eternity to be assumed as given ? Or is mankind some unplanned residue of nature's/god's creation ? Or there is something like a jigsaw puzzle if man can solve, then he can be one with the Ultimate One ? Or there is nothing to do or not do. It's all predestined, the infinity is a stage and all are just actors. If this is to be accepted, then why should there be violence, hatred, brutality, etc. as part of that destiny's creation ? It's indeed puzzling.
ReplyDeleteA physical journey usually has a destination. There will be several journeys and many destinations. Psychological journey need not and cannot have a destination / goal. For example let's say the goal is " I want to become a good person". First of all, what does it mean to be a good person. Is it the dictionary definition of good ? Are you good if you are a loving father or husband at home but in office you behave brutally, firing people left and right ? Dictionary definition or societal definition of good is not the correct or complete meaning of that word 'good'. In fact, good in the real sense of the word is not the opposite of 'bad'. Therefore, one can't have a goal in a psychological journey. One can't say "I am undertaking the journey of self discovery to attain the goal of ......blah blah blah." That's a fallacy. Psychological journey always have neither a so called beginning or a so called ending. One just picks up from where one is. In a physical journey, what matters is not the journey but the destination."Yeah flight was delayed, it was a crammed seat, the sandwich was lousy..........but thankfully I reached Mumbai on time." This is how we would say. However, in a psychological journey, if the journey is lousy, you can never get to the destination. The journey is the destination. Every step of the journey is also a destination in itself. The observing of one's greed is a journey and the dissolving of one's greed is also the journey of another kind. You can't ask what goal or what state of mind will I reach when I give up greed ? Nobody can explain that state. That state of mind cannot be described through words. It is indescribable through language.
ReplyDeleteVasudeva Kutumbakam - The world is one family. Is this just a statement or something that has a deeper meaning. We have all come from Adam and Eve. So we are all one family. Not just that. We are actually not at all different from one another. Superficial differences cannot make us different from each other. Just because your skin is white and mine is black does not make you any different from me. Same is the case with other superficial differences like food habits, language, way of dressing, religions with its peculiar rituals, technological progress, nationality, ideology, etc. However people mistake these to be those factors that make one group of people different from another. But this is not true at all.
ReplyDeletePeel away all these superficial differences and we can easily discover that all human beings are same and therefore belong to one family. All human beings live in fear, envy, greed and all human beings are either subtly or overtly brutal, ambitious, violent, deceitful.
Because of this commonality, I am no different from a Japanese who is no different from an Arab who is no different from a German who is no different from an African.
The moment we discover our psychological commonness, we realize how stupid it is to divide human beings into nationalities, ideologies and ism s. Communism, capitalism, socialism, totalitarianism are called differently but are all modified versions of each other.
Throw away the titles, tags and the labels and we will find that psychologically we are all one. We all suffer, we all go through sorrow, occasional happiness or joy, we all have anxiety, fear, etc.
If we can all dialog and discuss together then we can find a way to wipe away all the psychological issues that’s depleting our energy and preventing us from being happy, peaceful and contented.
We come empty handed and we go empty handed. That's obvious. We can observe it when we witness birth and death around us.
ReplyDeleteNo one is able to buck this trend.
But what about the phase between birth and death ? In this period we are not able to hold back. We keep accumulating, get attached to many things - people, property, power, position, money, etc. All these coming on their own is one thing. But quite a few of us are hankering for these, going behind these.
No one is able to buck this trend either.
Knowing we can't take anything while leaving the world, why do we still accumulate, have this acquisitive tendency ?
Many would say," look I take insurance, buy shares, do fixed deposits, buy gold, etc. for future safety and security of me and my children, and so on."
This too seems logical and sensible.
After all, instead of hoping that some one would help in times of need, it's better to put efforts in doing some investments ourselves.
While we can say that the timing of death is uncertain, it can happen either way. We could die young, and in that case, it wouldn't have mattered if one saved enough or not. But what if the lifespan increases. Here doing some savings would be a sensible thing to do. There would come a stage when we would become unemployable and at that tine we need to draw from our savings for surviving the balance of life.
And of course, apart from old age, savings come of use in the case of a sudden disease or an accident too.
If this is the logic that people defend with, then how much is enough ?
No one is able to define any upper limit and each one has his own reason to accumulate whatever and how much ever he wants to.
And it is impossible to put a fixed upper limit. This is what they tried in the communist method which failed. Folks asked, "who are you to decide how much hungry/greedy I should be ?".
Then came capitalism, which had its own share of troubles because, while it encouraged business enterprise, it also widened the gap between the haves and the have nots. I read somewhere that 3 people hold the wealth of half the world. And it seems Bill Gates would be a trillionaire in a few years.
Every system seems to have its pluses and minuses.
Just because you are poor, you can't steal from the rich. You will be caught and jailed.
So everyone then gets on to the capitalist bandwagon - Start a business yourself, keep Bill Gates as ideal and work, work, work. You will make a lot of money.
In this kind of a scenario, those that are greedy have no option but to plunder and loot nature, to exploit all the natural resources to satisfy one's own acquisitive tendency.
This has left nature helpless. It is silent and human beings take this for granted. We keep pillaging more and more.
We talk that we love our children but that's only talk. If we are really concerned about posterity who are actually our children, grand children, great grand children, great great grand children, etc., then we would be a bit careful in handling earth's resources.
There is enough for every man's need, not for every man's greed.
While this slogan is good to preach, it seems to be very difficult to practice it.
This includes me too.
May be dialogs and discussions can be eye openers in this matter.
And knowledge is always of the past. When we meet someone, we don't say "I am knowing you". We say, "I know you. " Actually knowledge should be present continuous but we always look at it in past tense. Hence there is a gap betwen the past and present. That gap distorts our perction of the fact and truth. That's why knowledge cannot be equated to wisdom. Both ancient and modern frameworks for spiritual pursuit should be flexible for adaptation and change. After all truth is not a fixed point. But we try our best to reduce it to a symbol or an idol. Truth is dynamic moving living everchanging. Raghavendra, thanks for poking me to respond. The relationship between knowledge and wisdom and spirituality can be an enlightening debate.
ReplyDeleteBut the trick is that when and how does one cross over, go beyond the door (putting it metaphorically). Material world operates in time. One can measure physical time when going from point a to point b. But psychological movement does not take place in time. Second is, after the cross over, the state of mind of the mind that has gone 'out of the world'' (physically the person is in the world ) cannot be described with words / language. Ultimate reality is indescribable. Wisdom is used as the ladder to climb to the mountain top to catch the glimpse of reality. Knowledge has limited or no role because it always operates in the past whereas truth is an everchanging movement. The wise ones have always pointed out that one cannot arrive at truth through effort. It has to be done through negation of the false. Wisdom negates the false. The residue then is truth.
ReplyDeleteAccording to me, truth is a moving living thing. It cannot be reduced to any historical, real or imaginary character, person or symbol or a holy book. In my humble opinion truth or the Ultimate Reality is beyond Bhagwad Gita, Bible, Koran, Krishna,Jesus, Allah, and any other holy text or god or symbol. All these reduce truth to a static entity and so at best can be guides and pointers. But the path to truth has to be travelled by each one and since no historical character , symbol or book contains dynamic truth they can help up till a certain distance like the relay race. The last mile has to be run by each of us.
ReplyDeleteThen it looks logical that the entity that is able to get disengaged from cause and effect is the one that has got liberated. Which there has to be an action that does not leave any residue. Because it is this residue which become the cause for an action and produces an effect which again becomes the cause for next action and so on so on. Of action should not leave any residue then thought should not leave any residue. For that reason and love should operate in sync, in equipoise. That's the sign of psychological freedom.
ReplyDeleteBut some would say truth cannot be approached by a partcular path or with a predecided goal. It works in the physical or material world which operates through goals, targets, aims, etc. In psychological matters like dissolving fear, anger, greed, etc. the intellect cannot be trained or controlled. What works is passive observation without any motive to change, suppress or transmute the present psychological state. Thru such an observation the negative quality dissolves. That's why truth is here and now, dynamic and it can't have a fixed static formula driven approach. Anyway let's try to dialog this tomorrow along with other things.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a deep sorrow pervading the universe.
ReplyDeleteBehind the beauty of nature and its marvellous creations of the earth, sky, ocean, sun, plants and animals, there seems to be a sorrow writ on their faces. It's as though they are tirelessly struggling and I wonder what the heck for ?
Who asked for the universe and all its creations to be created ? Nobody wanted and nobody asked for it.
If all this came from nothing, the why can't it remain as nothing ?
Nobody is able to figure out why at all this happened and it is now irrevocable.
It's as if all creations are destined to live in sorrow and suffering.
Peel the layers of pleasure, fear, envy, ambition, brutality of all living beings and you will find beneath all this the deep current of sorrow.
The trees are fighting with each other for sunlight. The big plant draws water from the soil around it and there is little water left for the adjacent small plants and if they can't struggle they wither away.
The survival of the fittest, strongest operates in the animal kingdom also. The tiger kills the deer. Man kills animals not only for food but for sport too.
The more dominant, more ferocious, more clever of plants, animals and humans corner everything and the rest have the crumbs.
Wonder why nature should be so cruel.
But beneath the ferociousness, cleverness and domination, there is sorrow flowing.
Animals, plants, and human beings have this deep layer of sorrow in them probably compounded by the top layers of fear, insecurity, jealousy, fear of dying, fear of being overpowered by another one much stronger,
Are we ignorant of this current of sorrow or are we able to sense it ?
Because human beings don't have the patience to remain with sorrow, observe it and understand it, we have devised many things to escape from sorrow - movies, football, whisky, television, etc.(not that it is morally wrong to indulge in these things or any such nonsense. We are not talking of societal standard of morality which is actually immorality. We are talking of these things just as a means of escapism from sorrow).
Can sorrow end itself in a human being ? in a living being ?
When sorrow wipes itself away, then love springs and manifests as compassion, that is, passion towards all.
When the consciousness gets emptied layer after layer and when even the layer of sorrow is wiped away, then consciousness becomes an empty vessel. The emptiness is the nothingness from which springs love and compassion.
As of now, among all non living and living beings, human beings are most capable and have the potential for this. Presently man is the measure of all things. When human consciousness changes, we will start using the earth more carefully, affectionately and tread on it softly.
Not only that, we will also treat earth's resources of plants and animals more affectionately and with care.
The transformed human beings becomes the role model for the rest of nature's creations.
As nature's most perfect creation, it is man's responsibility to take care of earth and all its resources by using only how much is required, based on need, not greed.
According to me, a discussion n dialog on the understanding of sorrow can be a very significant one.
Why have human beings lost the capacity to do all the simple things like smile, laugh, play, love ?
ReplyDeleteWhat's gone wrong with all of us ?
Why have become so serious lot of people ?
Which doesn't mean we should not be serious.
But we seem to have completely lost our innocence.
Everyone sees an agenda in what we think, say and do and likewise we think the same about another.
Communication has become an enormously difficult process. They say communication is a two way process. But is either one way or no way.
My gosh, it's become a big burden to carry on living in this hopeless rotten world.
Each one is to himself.
One has lived for half a century and one has been watching the slow but sure decadence over the years.
Externally, the material world has become too technical and too precise.
You can't park your vehicle anyway you like, you can't take a leak by the tree on the road, you can't bounce a cheque, you have to honour your EMIs, you have to wear ironed clothes, you can't get a morsel without paying for it,there are CCTV cameras all over the place an you can't budge this way that way wrongly, you have to have an occupation to get some money, etc. etc.
I am pretty sick of all this.
Psychologically and in the field of relationships, you have to be careful about what you say to your spouse, your sibling, your children, your colleagues, your relatives, your friends, your neighbours.
One wrong word and she / he will file for divorce, and the others will snap relations/friendship with you.
You can't laugh to your heart's content. There's someone watching you waiting to deflate, put a pin to your suddenly ballooned enthusiasm.
Why, you can't even cry to your heart's content. You have to be worried about protocol. You are weak hearted if you cry.And if you are a man and crying, well, you are not a man then.
You have to watch every word you speak. You can't blurt. It will cost you your friendship, relationship, your job, your position, title.
You have to be politically correct. Diplomacy has to be your middle name.
You have to control your anger, jealousy, violence, greed, lest you injure another. If you are strong and powerful you will get away, else, you are finished, you will be thulped, beaten black n blue.
If you unintentionally hurt another physically or psychologically and quickly apologise also, you won't be spared. The other person will openly or slyly take it on you.
You hurt me...I hurt you....you kill me ....I kill you....you insult me....I insult you......you shout at me.....I shout at you...you cheat me....I cheat you.
This nonsense is what is going on in the world and this is what we call life/living. Surely not. This is dying, no already dead.
Is there any point living like this ?
Why have we lost this perfume of affection, care, love, laughter ?
